- ➤ An East Texas man, Samuel Schlemmer, was arrested on charges including intoxication manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk and causing a crash on Highway 69 near FM 1911 in Alto that injured three people and killed two women, with his bond set at $355,000. CBS19
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sen. John Cornyn visited CampV in Tyler and called it the gold standard for veterans’ care — he praised its counseling, housing, and peer support services while noting that its model should be used elsewhere to address gaps in veteran support. - ➤ Tyler City Council approved over $16 million in contracts on Wednesday to upgrade the water system—$12.6 million to modernize the Lake Tyler Raw Water Pump Station and $2.1 million to extend water lines in northern Tyler—and to convert a former armory into a police training center with a $1.8 million contract while also updating building codes for better safety and energy use.
