  • The SPCA of East Texas introduced Garland, a 5-month-old Chihuahua now available for adoption at their Tyler location on 3393 W. Grande Blvd. The shelter is also seeking volunteers to bottle feed and foster other pets by appointment Tuesday through Saturday.  CBS19
  • Habitat for Humanity of Smith County celebrated its ReStore joining the local Chamber of Commerce during a ribbon-cutting event on Dec. 10 at (822 W. Front St.). The event offered special discounts and refreshments as donations helped fund affordable housing initiatives.  CBS19
  • Leo, a resilient three-legged Great Pyrenees, now serves as a therapy animal and visits local community centers to help people feel better. The brave rescue dog continues to inspire locals with his determination.  CBS19

  • U.S. crude oil fell to $55.40 a barrel, its lowest level since February 2021, and this drop is expected to lower holiday gas prices for Tyler residents.  CBS19

  • Smith County commissioners approved a tax break for a new boutique hotel project in downtown Tyler. The Valencia Hotel Group will build the 140-room hotel spanning nearly 90,000 sqft as part of a development plan.  CBS19

HEALTH NEWS

  • More than 60,000 lbs of fully cooked breaded chicken are being recalled nationwide after the USDA found undeclared soy on labels — local retailers should remove the product from shelves immediately.  CBS19

  • The Joaquin Rams football team is on the brink of making history as it strives for its first state title, having only reached the championship game once before (a record they aim to break). Fans are watching closely as the team looks to change its past performance.  CBS19
  • Former FC Dallas player and John Tyler High School alum Daniel Hernandez hosted a soccer camp at Tyler High this weekend to help local youth learn soccer and support his foundation’s drive collecting unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.  CBS19
