Caldwell Zoo staff in Tyler are preparing animals for winter by providing extra hay bedding for goats and heated floors for porcupines.

Customized care will keep each species warm and active until spring.

Tyler ISD students earned national recognition on Saturday, Dec.

13 when two grand-prize winners in Optimum’s 18th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest received $3,000 scholarships, while a Tyler Legacy student earned runner-up honors and extra prizes (an iPad and special flag).
