- ➤ Samaritan’s Purse started Operation Christmas Child for National Collection Week from Nov. 17 to 24, inviting people to pack shoebox gifts with toys, school supplies, and personal care items for children in need—Tyler drop-off sites at Grace Community School and Faith Community Church offer special hours for donations. - ➤ The Raceway Muscle Car Club donated $28,000 to the East Texas Crisis Center last Thursday at the Patterson dealership in Tyler to help fund food, shelter and other essentials for survivors. The club will host a benefit car show on Nov 22 at Bubba’s 33 to aid the medical and living expenses of 18-month-old Elianna Pride who is receiving treatment for an aggressive brain cancer—showing its strong commitment to local support. - ➤ Tyler Parks and Recreation workers set up the 30-foot artificial Christmas tree on the lawn of the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center on Monday because downtown construction changed their usual venue. The Rose City Christmas Parade will take place on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. with a new route starting on West Houston Street and ending near Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium — organizers say the event will help support the East Texas Food Bank.
