  • Caldwell Zoo is hosting the returning Boo at the Zoo event that brings treats — and a few tricks — for families and animals. The event is expected to draw community members looking for fun and engaging animal encounters.  CBS19
  • The Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County received $50,000 to support services for children—Sheriff Larry Smith started the Smiles Fore Kids Golf Tournament to boost funds for the center.  CBS19

CULTURE NEWS

  • Emmy-winning actor and producer Dale Wade Davis filmed his family drama After All in East Texas with a cast including Erika Christensen, Penelope Ann Miller and Kiara Muhammad. The film premiered on Oct. 7, opened on Oct. 17, and will stream on Nov. 7—Davis said the movie shows the true spirit of the region.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tyler ISD expanded its welding program to serve over 500 students in high-demand trades by adding new facilities and technology—such as outdoor welding bays and a virtual lab—to help them earn industry certifications and college credit at Tyler Junior College West. The program readies students for skilled jobs in construction and manufacturing as local employers seek their expertise.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

HEALTH NEWS

  • UT Health Athens unveiled its new Da Vinci Xi robot surgeon on Friday, October 24th during an all-day event that showed local students, medical staff, and community members how the system can reduce pain and shorten recovery times. The hospital plans to recruit specialty physicians for more robot-assisted procedures and soon add gynecologic surgeries—demonstrating its commitment to advanced care close to home—while offering hands-on educational sessions.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • The Kilgore Bulldogs defeated the Palestine Wildcats 55-3 in Week 9 of the Texas high school football season—demonstrating a strong performance on the field.  CBS19
  • The Center Roughnecks beat the Brownsboro Bears 58 to 22 in week 9 of Texas high school football in Tyler. The game was shown on CBS19 and helped boost Center's season record.  CBS19
  • Tyler ISD’s Rose City Warriors won at the Special Olympics Area Bowling Tournament held earlier this week at Green Acres Bowl, with fourteen athletes from local schools earning medals by placing in the top three of their heats.   • The Troup Tigers defeated the West Rusk Raiders 28—19 in Week 9 of the 2025 Texas high school football season in Tyler.  CBS19
  • The Pleasant Grove Hawks beat the Gilmer Buckeyes 41-7 in Week 9 of the 2025 high school football season in Tyler—demonstrating clear strength on the field.  CBS19
  • In Tyler, the Tatum Eagles and Atlanta Rabbits played in Week 9 of the high school football season — Atlanta won 14—7.  CBS19
  • Tyler, Texas — The Brook Hill School Guard defeated the Tomball Christian Homeschool Warriors 13-0 in Week 9 of the football season. The win adds an important result for the team as they played a local game.  CBS19
