- ➤ Smith County Master Gardeners will host the fall 'From Bulbs to Blooms' Conference and Sale on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Road in Tyler, with a free educational program from 9 to 10 a.m. and bulb shopping from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Greg Grant will preview heirloom and Texas-tough bulbs—these Earth-Kind varieties thrive in East Texas soils—and proceeds will support the Tyler Botanical Garden plus local horticulture programs. - ➤ At the Texas Rose Festival Ladies’ Luncheon held Friday at Green Acres Baptist Church Crosswalk Center, longtime chair Nicole Robbins ended her six-year run while guests enjoyed a full course meal. - ➤ Miss Avery Craft Armstrong was crowned queen of the 92nd Texas Rose Festival at the R. Don Cowan Fine & Performing Arts Center on Friday — the event showcased imaginative costumes and performances that brought classic and modern tales to life.
