CRIME NEWS

  • A Smith County judge delayed his ruling on the custody of 44 dogs rescued from malnutrition in a suspected puppy mill—this leaves their fate to be decided in a future court decision.  CBS19

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UT Tyler School of Nursing celebrated the grand opening of its renovated building on Friday — the new simulation labs now give students hands-on practice in patient care as community leaders and school officials praised its modern design.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • Tyler ISD's Early College High School and Whitehouse ISD's Stanton-Smith Elementary—two of 26 schools statewide—were honored as Inaugural Lone Star Ribbon Schools when the awards were announced on September 29.  CBS19

  • Erwin Street was closed from Bois D’Arc to Broadway as the Fain Group began work on downtown Tyler improvements at the corner with College Ave Monday—College Ave also stayed closed for underground utility work while businesses maintained access via fencing.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
