- ➤ On Sept. 13, nearly 150 local guests attended the inaugural Boots & Blueprints Gala at Willow Brook Country Club to raise $60,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Smith County—featuring live and silent auctions, dinner, and moving testimonials. - ➤ Horticulturist Greg Grant of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service explains that the sweet olive, originally from China, produces creamy white and strongly scented flowers in fall, early spring and mild winters—its hardy shrubs grow over 15 feet tall and add evergreen, dense foliage to Southern gardens.
