  • Tyler is set to grow as several commercial projects will add jobs and boost business; a roadway extension near Bass Pro Shops, sewer upgrades at Wisenbaker Tract, and a new Amazon facility will ease traffic and attract investors—helping shape the city’s future.   Tyler Morning Telegraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jucys Family of Restaurants started a scholarship program on September 1 to help high school employees 18 and younger earn $1 per hour toward college or trade school expenses—this plan honors the late co-founder Ronny Maxey. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Smith County is pushing ahead with its road and bridge projects as County Engineer Frank Davis said Project RB-12-25 is expected to finish in the next few weeks while 121 miles of work orders and heavy truck traffic continue to challenge progress—more bids will be brought to the court soon.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • East Texas veterans were awarded nearly $2M in grants from the Texas Veterans Commission — the funds support programs and services for veterans in the region.  CBS19

SPORTS NEWS

  • An East Texas football coach is urging UIL to require EMS at high school games—he said that having emergency services on site would help treat injuries quickly. The coach believes that a clear EMS presence will improve player safety during games.  CBS19
  • In Trinity School of Texas's second season with football, the Titans made school history—winning 130-96 over Leverett's Chapel. The record-setting game marked a significant milestone for the team.  CBS19
