COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Monday, the East Texas Food Bank honored four partners—Atmos Energy, Hall Family of Dealerships, ETX ADAM, and St. Vincent de Paul—for their key roles in fighting hunger during Hunger Action Month, with contributions that provided hundreds of thousands of meals and funds from a charity golf tournament. It also posthumously awarded Michael Allgaier a Lifetime Achievement Award for his long service to the community.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • The 109th East Texas State Fair opened Friday in Tyler and runs through Sept. 28 with carnival rides, games, a petting zoo, Food Row, and local food vendors. The fair also features its first-ever PRCA-sanctioned rodeo—gates open at 6:30 p.m. with events starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday—to highlight East Texas heritage.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • East Texas musician Gary Patrick performed at the Southfork Experience on Aug. 8—10 with cast members from Dallas—he will perform today at the Tyler Songwriter’s Festival at The Listening Lounge and awaits nominations at the Josie Music Awards on Nov. 2.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tubefab will build a new $30 million copper tube facility in Jacksonville—this project will create at least 40 jobs in East Texas.  CBS19

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Officials took disciplinary action after a possible weapon was reported at Cumberland Academy's middle school — school staff collaborated with Tyler Police to respond quickly and ensure that no students or staff were in danger.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

SPORTS NEWS

  • Texas High defeated Fayetteville 42–29 in Week 4 of the 2025 high school football season in Tyler—CBS19 aired the game last Friday at 10 p.m.  CBS19
  • Tyler Legacy won their homecoming football game 38-35 against Crowley at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Friday night after Bam White scored a late 15-yard touchdown run. Coach Beau Trahan said the team will work to start the second half faster in future games.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • The Lindale Eagles beat the Gilmer Buckeyes 35-23 in Week 4 of the Texas high school football season in Tyler— the win came in a game played under the lights that energized local fans.  CBS19
  • The DeKalb Bears defeated the Harmony Eagles 42-7 in their Week 4 high school football game in Tyler—marking a clear win for the team.  CBS19
  • Tyler High running back Cadarius McMiller scored a record six touchdowns against Seagoville—five in the first half and one in the third quarter. He now has 20 Division I offers and aims to catch the attention of the Texas Longhorns as he continues breaking records.  CBS19
  • Troup Tigers defeated the Rusk Eagles 20-3 in their Week 4 game of the 2025 high school football season in Tyler—Troup's strong performance helped secure the win.  CBS19
  • Tyler's Arp Tigers defeated the Sabine Cardinals 61-0 in Week 4 of the 2025 high school football season. The game was played under bright stadium lights (a detail from its 'Under the Lights' title) while Sabine was held scoreless (highlighting their tough night on the field).  CBS19
