- ➤ This weekend in East Texas, Tyler hosts several events including the East Texas State Fair at 11315 Texas 64 West—open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday with carnival rides, live music, and vendors. The 11th annual Gold Run at Bergfeld Park and the TrendingTyler Songwriters Festival plus the Rose City Farmers Market on Sept 20 offer more choices for locals to enjoy—providing a busy lineup of events across the region. - ➤ The East Texas State Fair returns today in Tyler for 10 days at a new location off Highway 64 with food, carnival rides, a petting zoo, sea lion shows, and Fair Food Fridays. - ➤ Kids Aspiring to Dream held its inaugural Youth Prayer & Fellowship Breakfast on August 30 at the UT Tyler Alumni House to bring local and neighboring youth together for worship and fellowship. - ➤ Today, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Veterans Committee holds a press conference and reception from noon to 1 p.m. at First Christian Church on 4202 S. Broadway Avenue to announce that a section of U.S. Highway 69—from South State Loop 323 to the Bullard city limits—is designated as Veterans Memorial Highway, honoring local veterans. - ➤ Gov. Abbott presented checks to flood victims using funds raised from a benefit concert hosted by country singer George Strait in July — the concert raised more than $7 million to aid recovery efforts. CBS19
