- ➤ Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced on Friday the creation of House and Senate committees to study bias and free speech at universities—Sen. Bryan Hughes was named vice chair of the Senate panel. The groups were set up after criticism grew over comments made by faculty and students following conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death, and their first hearings are not yet scheduled.
