GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Smith County Emergency Services District 2 plans to cut response times by buying properties to build permanent fire stations in key areas. Operations Fire Chief Eric Greaser said the district used heat map data to choose the best sites for these new stations.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • Tyler City Council approved a $219.3 million budget for fiscal year 2026 last week—focusing on water system upgrades, street repairs and community safety while keeping water, sewer and property rates low despite a 7.57% rise in property values.
