- ➤ This Saturday, artist Cassie Edmonds will hold The Art of Life runway show at the historic Mayfair building in Tyler to raise funds for Hospice of East Texas—VIP tickets cost $150 with a champagne reception at 6 p.m. and general admission is $100 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tyler Morning Telegraph
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jake Henson has been named the new superintendent at Center ISD—he will assume his role soon. CBS19
- ➤ Jack Elementary honored 9/11 victims during its annual Patriot Day ceremony. The school is named after Bryan Jack (a Tyler ISD alum who was onboard the plane that crashed into the Pentagon). CBS19
- ➤ A local high school student is taking neuroscience college courses and showed exceptional early ability when he read road signs at age 2—evidence of his advanced aptitude. He will continue to tackle challenging coursework as his academic path unfolds. CBS19
- ➤ SFA State University is considering relocating the Old Stone Fort Museum—but officials stressed that the historic landmark will not be torn down as plans for a new site are still being developed. CBS19
