CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, prosecutors announced that they will not seek the death penalty for Nathaniel Hall, 19, Jasmine Williams, 22, and a juvenile charged with capital murder in connection with the robbery and killing of 20-year-old Kameron Montre Anderson—found shot and in a burning vehicle in Rusk County on Sept. 1. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler celebrated its 50th first day of school on August 25 by welcoming about 600 students onto its 150-acre campus—Head of School Dr. Mark Desjardins said the school is thankful to start a new year. Founded in 1976 as St. Andrews Episcopal School with 118 students, the school will mark its anniversary with events including All About All Saints Week from Sept. 8 to 12. Tyler Morning Telegraph
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Akash Munshi, a Cornell intern with Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Region 6 office, spent his summer working at state parks and restoration sites in East Texas to study native plants and help save the rare Coreopsis intermedia wildflower (found near Tyler). He is now leading a fundraiser to hire botanists and purchase seeds to restore the plant (a key step in local conservation efforts). Tyler Morning Telegraph

- ➤ Texas State Representatives voted in favor of House Bill 27 on Thursday, and the bill will shut down production and export permits for select aquifers for 16 months—aiming to protect East Texas groundwater. CBS19
