LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Tyler gardeners are set to see a second spring as bright red oxblood lilies bloom after a late summer rain; the Smith County Master Gardeners will hold an online bulb sale from October 13 to 22 and a guest lecture on October 25 at Pollard United Methodist Church—Greg Grant will speak.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • Caladiums are a top plant for dark garden spots that need bright filtered light, and Smith County Master Gardners explain that they come in many varieties such as White Christmas and Candidum. Gardeners are advised to plant the bulbs 1.5 to 2 inches deep after Mother’s Day and water well so the plants grow vigorously until they become leggy by late September—indicating it’s time to dig up and store the bulbs for next spring.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
