CRIME NEWS

  • Danielle Marie Stanley, the former bookkeeper for Christian Builders in Bullard, allegedly embezzled over $67,000 from the company to pay off her credit card debt and was arrested Wednesday — she posted bond from Smith County Jail.  CBS19

  • Tyler director Tracy Paul Williams will present his gospel stage play Sins of My Father tomorrow at Caldwell Auditorium—drawing on personal struggles to explore themes of identity, faith and fatherhood through the journey of four college-aged men.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tyler City Council approved a development agreement with the Tyler Economic Development Council to extend sewer service to the 282-acre Wisenbaker Tract north of Loop 323 — the project made the site shovel-ready for a new business park expected to bring jobs and growth to Tyler.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chapel Hill ISD held the grand opening of its new Junior High campus today — community leaders, students, and staff joined the celebration. The facility will provide updated classrooms and improved resources to support student learning.  CBS19
  • Bonner Elementary had a lively first day of school as students returned and greeted teachers, with Principal Elizabeth Gomez noting that 385 students started the year and the school earned its first-ever A rating from TEA.   • Chapel Hill ISD and UT Tyler announced two new MOUs this week that let educators join graduate programs online at a reduced tuition rate — one agreement offers an accelerated master’s in Educational Leadership while the other expands degree options through the UT Tyler School of Education.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • A Congressman secured funding to keep the East Texas NASA facility open and to support its ongoing operations—helping to protect local jobs. The secured funds will ensure the facility continues working in the coming months.  CBS19
  • Gov. Abbott activated emergency response resources as a tropical storm threatened the area — state agencies coordinated with local officials to prepare for the impact.  CBS19
  • Yesterday, the City of Tyler hosted the Tyler Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan Open House at the Mayfair Building at 415 Fair Park Dr. from 5 to 7 p.m. so residents could share ideas to shape city growth until 2045—building on its 2007 plan.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
