  • The East Texas State Fair unveiled its 2025 concert lineup & organizers say the fair will feature a mix of local and guest performers to entertain visitors during upcoming fair events. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students in green and white uniforms started the new school year at Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School on Monday with half days on both Monday and Tuesday before a full day of classes today, as teachers and staff helped them settle into routine. Principal Jim Kimec and Dean Ed Burns outlined plans for upcoming sports, academics, and extracurricular events while enforcing a no-cell-phone rule—supporting the school's focus on higher learning.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • Smith County Animal Control’s plan for a new shelter has been put on hold amid ongoing budget talks as officials now consider renovating the aging facility in the old Crescent Laundry building — staff and local advocates say a new building is needed to better care for the animals.
