  • At a pretrial hearing for Scotty Lee Goble, accused of killing Tyler co-owner Heriberto "Eddie" Ramirez on Oct. 11, the prosecution asked the victim's family not to wear clothing with his image—aiming to prevent a biased trial—and the defense requested additional records, including hospital and criminal history details, as trial begins Aug. 25.  CBS19

  • At Friday's three-hour budget workshop, Smith County officials discussed bare bones budget cuts and pressed for swift vehicle replacements in departments like the sheriff's office and constables—Commissioner Drewry proposed a critical vehicle list while Judge Franklin recommended using ARPA funds and planning a long-term fleet strategy.
