Tyler Junior College exceeded state expectations on Friday, Aug.
7 but faced a $1.2 million funding shortfall due to Texas' new performance-based model (not because student performance declined). College officials said the change rewards degrees, certificates and workforce program completions.
🏛️ Government
Texas families can shop tax-free during the weekend when qualifying items such as clothing, footwear, school supplies + backpacks under $100 are exempt from sales taxes Friday through Sunday.
The comptroller said that shoppers will save an estimated $142.5 million in state + local taxes.
