- ➤ On Saturday, August 2, hundreds of families attended the annual Back-to-School Fair at Green Acres Baptist Church, which offered free supplies, health resources, and fun activities to help prepare for the new school year—organizers like Ignacio Rodriguez and partners such as Texas Children’s Health Plan worked to ease rising costs. - ➤ A 20-year-old man was found dead Sunday evening—after a passerby spotted his overturned truck fully submerged in a creek along County Road 3305, west of Jacksonville—following an 8:30 a.m. missing person report that led deputies to search Tyler, Athens, and surrounding areas using license plate readers. - ➤ A section of the Carlton Hotel garage in Tyler fell to the street today — NORF Companies said it will demolish the affected area within 48 hours. CBS19

- ➤ Families in East Texas are getting ready for the new school year at a School Supply Train event in Tyler—free school supplies are being offered to help students start classes. The event is designed to lower costs and make the transition easier for families. CBS19
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Congressional District 1, represented by Rep. Nathaniel Moran, may lose Franklin, Titus, Morris, Camp and part of Upshur while gaining Cherokee and Nacogdoches counties under a redistricting map approved Saturday—aimed at boosting GOP chances in the 2026 midterms.
