  • East Texas officials report that three years after sisters were found dead in a pond the case was ruled a homicide & no arrests have been made.  CBS19
  • Van Zandt County authorities arrested Nicholas Ryan Deel and Susana Aurora Frisbie on child endangerment charges after officers located a sweating child with a nosebleed in a hot car and a 9-month-old baby in a hot RV at Wagon Train RV Park on Interstate-20 S. Service Road following a Texas Department of Safety high-speed chase—both children were taken to the hospital and placed under Child Protective Services care.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School districts in Smith and Gregg counties have released back-to-school details for the 2025-26 year, including first day dates, meet-the-teacher events, enrollment instructions and supply list information available online + schedules vary by district.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • Dairy Queen held Miracle Treat Day — the event raised money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through Blizzard treat sales at local stores.  CBS19

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Debris fell from the parking garage on the 5th floor of the Carlton Building last week in Tyler and led city officials to close part of Elm Street for safety — NORF Companies began a full structural check. The company will wait for the engineering review before the downtown redevelopment can continue — the timeline remains uncertain as experts and contractors plan next steps.  CBS19
