CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ 17-year-old Mia Gage (the first queen in her family) will become the 88th queen of the East Texas Yamboree in October at Gilmer during a four-day event that draws about 100,000 visitors. Gage is an incoming senior at Gilmer High School and a power-lifter who plans to be an OB/GYN, and she said the honor means a lot to her and her family. Tyler Morning Telegraph
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Winona ISD approved a new teacher pay scale for the 2025-26 school year on July 29th—boosting starting salaries to $40,000 and offering raises from $1,750 to $9,380 based on experience.
