  • The SPCA of East Texas is hosting an adoption event from July 28 to Aug. 3—offering rescued cats and dogs that are vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for homes. The center is at 3245 W.   • Smith County officials are searching for a missing girl—neighbors are asked to share any information as the investigation continues.  CBS19
  • Police arrested an East Texas man after an hourslong standoff with law enforcement (he surrendered peacefully) with no injuries reported.  CBS19

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Tyler is expanding its 2025 Structure Flooding Project to include Kidd Drive and Downing Street after recurring flooding affected nearby homes and properties. The city council approved a $42,300 contract with The C.T. Brannon Corporation—covering design and construction services—while construction will begin later this year.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
