Good morning, Tyler.

An advice columnist told a local Tyler reader that dead branches on pecan trees can fall unexpectedly and cause damage, so he urged hiring a certified arborist to carefully prune and remove the dead wood (to prevent injury) and to verify the contractor’s insurance (for added protection).

Dr. Garett Slater will speak on native bees at a free Nature in the Garden Series event on July 17 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the AgriLife Extension Office classroom in the historic Cotton Belt Building (1517 W.

Front Street, Suite 116) in Tyler. He will explain how native bees differ from honeybees and share tips to help local gardens support these important pollinators amid growing pollinator decline concerns.
