  • The Folmar, a popular wedding venue in Tyler, announced its main venue will soon close after many years of hosting weddings, and it will hold an estate sale on July 10th, 11th, and 12th (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) while continuing to host small chapel events.  CBS19

  • BBB Serving Central East Texas warned businesses and consumers to update their cybersecurity measures after researchers uncovered a leak of over 16 billion credentials from nearly 4,000 breaches. The nonprofit advised immediate steps—changing passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and monitoring accounts for phishing scams—to help prevent identity theft.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tyler has become one of the top cities in Texas after a No.2 best place ranking by World Atlas—big-name investments from Dave & Buster’s, Krystal, Bass Pro Shops, Yellawood and Amazon signal strong growth. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cumberland Academy in Tyler is hosting a job fair today at the High School Performing Arts Center at 7200 Paluxy Drive from 9 a.m. to noon to fill teaching and staff positions for the upcoming 2025-26 school year—applicants with pending or eligible certification, particularly in math, science or special education, may be considered.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • The Tyler Area Business Education Council is seeking donations and sponsorships from local groups for its 12th annual #SchoolisCool event, where every $50 donated provides a backpack with school supplies (one backpack per $50). The event will be held on Aug. 7 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. (at the Rose Garden Center and W.T. Brookshire Conference Center, 2000 W.   • Patrick Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation announced scholarships for Tyler-area students to help pay for college—applications will open soon. The program offers financial assistance for tuition—supporting local education.  CBS19

  • Smith County commissioners approved Tuesday the purchase of 10 new handheld radios—designed by Motorola Solutions—for the Texas Anti-Gang Unit. The equipment will help officers in East Texas improve radio connectivity during emergencies and comes at no extra cost to taxpayers thanks to a grant.  CBS19
