- ➤ A new report by the East Texas Food Bank and Feeding America shows food insecurity in Gregg and surrounding counties has grown to a gap of more than 44.6 million meals, up from 40.8 million last year — nearly 20% of East Texas adults and about 80,000 children face hunger. The food bank, which will supply roughly 33.3 million meals in 2025, warns that potential SNAP cuts could reduce federal aid and boost the need for community support. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Dairy Queen has launched Miracle Mondays to support kids in Tyler—a new program designed to benefit local families. Officials say more details on the initiative will be shared soon. CBS19
- ➤ SPCA of East Texas is hosting an adoption event at its Tyler center on 3245 W. Grande Blvd from May 19 to May 25—this ongoing event features Arlo, a playful 5-month-old retriever mix; King Fredrick, a 2-year-old collie mix who needs a privacy fence; senior dog Mouse; and cats Rory and Nikki, all spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
