ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Bullard and moved from a rural area west of town into neighborhoods near North Houston Street—where snapped trees and falling limbs caused minor roof damage. The tornado measured 4.95 miles long and 600 yards wide with peak winds of 93 mph.  CBS19

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Texas Legislature reached an agreement to raise the business property tax exemption from $2,500 to $125,000, a change that could cut millions in revenue and lead to service cuts+ fee hikes in local cities and counties. The measure must be approved by voters this November, creating uncertainty as local governments plan their 2025-26 budgets.  Longview News-Journal
