  • The Tyler Morning Telegraph team earned multiple awards in the North and East Texas Press Association Better Newspaper Contest for work produced in 2024. CRIME NEWS

  • Karistha Johnson, a Tyler tax preparer, pleaded guilty to a tax refund fraud scheme and was sentenced to federal prison for two years Tuesday — she filed 610 false tax returns that resulted in over $1.2 million in fraudulent refunds.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Karin Smith was sworn in as Smith County auditor on Monday morning at the county annex building, with Seventh District Judge Kerry Russell leading the ceremony. She brings more than 20 years of government finance experience and replaces Ann Wilson, who retired after 25 years—Smith now oversees the county’s financial operations.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
