- ➤ Tyler firefighters rescued a brave puppy from a rooftop today—neighbors reported that the animal was stranded and in danger. The puppy is now safe and receiving care. CBS19
- ➤ SPCA of East Texas in Tyler is holding an adoption event from April 14 to 20 that features pets like Rebel, an 8-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix, Azura, a 2-year-old Husky mix, Sun, a 3-year-old Terrier mix, and two cats named Akira and Karev. - ➤ An East Texas church on Highway 155 South in Flint was destroyed after a fire broke out early Monday morning—Smith County Emergency Services District 2 crews responded at 6:12 a.m. with no injuries while the pastor said the church will hold Easter service and rebuild as the cause is investigated. - ➤ A church in East Texas was destroyed by an early morning fire and firefighters recovered several Bibles from the building. CBS19

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ House Bill 3458, known as the Ethical Pet Sales Bill and authored by Rep. Jared Patterson (R-Frisco), advanced in the Texas Legislature after a committee hearing on April 9 where Texans testified about the high costs and pain of buying sick puppies from retail pet stores.
