ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Flooding in Lindale closed several roads and led to water rescues as officials relocated operations to Lindale Volunteer Fire Department (Station 1 on E. Hubbard St.) and urged residents to avoid flooded areas. Tyler Morning Telegraph

- ➤ A Tyler man faces a capital murder charge — detectives are investigating the case. CBS19
- ➤ Smith County auto shop owner Seferino Bautista-Renteria was found guilty on Friday of murder after he shot 19-year-old Rawly 'Eli' Sanchez on Fourth of July last year (Sanchez was shot in the back of his head as he made a U-turn near the shop). Tyler Morning Telegraph
- ➤ CBS19 is looking into cold cases from across East Texas—especially in the Pineywoods—to find answers for affected families. CBS19
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tyler ISD was named one of the top three winners in the TASB Student Video Contest and received a $5,000 prize as the first-place winner in the Large District category. The winning video—featuring students sharing what makes the district special—was shown at the Teachers of the Year gala last Thursday. Tyler Morning Telegraph
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Texas public health officials reported on Friday that the measles outbreak, which began over two months ago in West Texas, has grown to 481 cases and 56 hospitalizations—up from 422 cases and 42 hospitalizations earlier in the week. The rise follows lower childhood vaccination rates during the pandemic and comes as state lawmakers prepare to review vaccine policies. Longview News-Journal
