- ➤ Four East Texas women will be honored for their roles in education, health, advocacy and community service at the upcoming A Red Regal Affair Women's History Awards Dinner on March 30 at 1 p.m. in Tyler—attendees pay $20 and will receive a book along with a Southern-style meal. - ➤ More than 300 young exhibitors competed in the 49th annual Smith County Junior Livestock Show at Cross Brand Cowboy Church, where hands-on contests in livestock, home economics, and public speaking taught key life skills—reflecting our strong East Texas agricultural roots. - ➤ On Wednesday, the Tyler City Council approved a $67,500 contract with MHS Planning & Design to develop Stewart Park with new playground equipment, a walking trail, pavilions, a restroom and educational features. The design service will secure permits and coordinate utility work—while construction will begin when the Legacy Trail extension trailhead is complete, making this the first new park added in decades.
