  • Tyler Legacy band receives a new trailer (donated by local supporters) to transport instruments for student events. The donation shows strong local backing today.  CBS19
  • The Azalea and Spring Flower Trail is drawing thousands along its 10-mile route of blooming azaleas, historic homes and scenic neighborhoods as families and visitors enjoy Tyler’s spring season. The event is underway now.  CBS19

CULTURE NEWS

  • Texas leaders and fans paid tribute to Chuck Norris (86), known for Walker, Texas Ranger, who died Thursday morning in Hawaii after a medical emergency. Norris, known for his Lone Wolf Ranch in Navasota and school programs like Kickstart Kids, was honored for his lasting cultural impact.  CBS19
  • On Thursday, the city hosted a cash mob at the historic Carnegie Library to boost the local historical society and celebrate East Texas heritage. The society will partner with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra on April 23 at Liberty Hall for an event aimed at engaging future generations.  CBS19
  • The Pollard Theater Center will debut Singin’ in the Rain at the Sherman Theater inside Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler from March 25 to 29, featuring a live orchestra + a mix of seasoned and first-time performers in a classic musical comedy.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

  • Tyler Economic Development Council president Scott Martinez explained that business investment boosted the local tax base by creating jobs, raising home values, and spreading costs for roads, schools, and emergency services & benefiting every taxpayer.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Downtown Tyler is undergoing a transformation with wider sidewalks and two-way street configurations along College Ave as crews modernize key infrastructure. City leaders say the current phase will finish by the end of March and crews will later move to the Ferguson Street and College Ave intersection.  CBS19

  • Health officials warn Tyler parents as chickenpox cases spike in Texas; they urge caution when students return to school after spring break.  CBS19
