- ➤ Smith County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office concluded its first Citizens Constable Academy on March 9 — a six-week program where community members and Tyler Junior College students learned law enforcement duties such as traffic stops and court procedures — and plans to expand the academy with sessions starting in June. - ➤ Smith County officials approved a countywide cleanup program running from March 30 to May 1 — residents can haul bulky waste with one voucher per household at Republic Services Greenwood Farms Landfill — and a new assistant facilities services director position to help track assets and monitor the budget.
