  • Counties in east Texas issued a burn ban today due to drought and wildfire risks that will last for seven days (county commissioners may vote later to extend or cancel the ban).  CBS19

  • Six Smith County volunteer fire departments received a $170,000 grant from Texas A&M Forest Service via the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program to fund PPE and training aids requested before Nov. 2024; Flint-Gresham plans to use the funds to order TECGEN suits for 15 firefighters.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
