Good morning, Tyler.

A local Jeep club has completed over 450 moves today on frozen streets amid a winter storm, as neighbors & volunteers work together to help residents safely navigate East Texas.

Warming centers will open across East Texas ahead of a winter storm this weekend.

Tyler’s Salvation Army - a 24-hour shelter for residents without power, along with sites in Bullard, Longview, and nearby towns, will welcome those in need and ask them to bring blankets, chargers, or something to sit on.

Tyler’s road crews and officials are working to clear lingering icy conditions as above-freezing temperatures melt the ice, though caution remains on many roadways.

Local authorities advise drivers to slow down (30 mph or less) as hazards gradually improve later Tuesday and Wednesday.

Frigid temperatures can strain the heart so Tyler residents are urged to bundle up today when outdoors; health experts say cold air may affect heart health & advise taking precautions.

Amid winter storm conditions today, Tyler residents are taking to icy roads for ice skating + skiing, enjoying a creative spin on winter fun.
