  • Camp Director Britt Eastland (whose father was among those killed) said Cypress Lake at Camp Mystic will reopen after months of prayer, reflection, and community feedback. The move will restore the camp’s services and bring new hope.  CBS19
  • The SPCA of East Texas introduces Caillou, a playful 10-week-old Lab/Terrier mix seeking a loving home, and it is looking for volunteers (and foster families) to help care for him. Residents can contact the shelter for details.  CBS19

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Headless Librarian bookstore will open a new storefront at 235 South Broadway Avenue in downtown Tyler early summer as construction starts in February; it will host author events and book clubs while keeping its spot at Blue Bird Antique Mall.  Tyler Morning Telegraph

CULTURE NEWS

  • Teacher Bryan Walding offers free two-step dance lessons to help community members reconnect. Lessons are held today from 8 to 10 p.m. at C&C Breakroom in Lindale and will run Thursday from 8 to 10 p.m. at Reo Palm Isle in Longview.  Tyler Morning Telegraph
  • Local historian Mike (Tyler Boy) Collins is collecting signs from closed businesses to preserve Tyler history and keep the community's past visible.  CBS19

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jonathan Darby has been named the new head coach at Pleasant Grove High School. He served as the defensive coordinator for five years after joining the district seven years ago.  CBS19
  • Camp Mystic will reopen one campus in May so parents can enroll daughters for summer camp, but its main campus remains closed — a decision made after last July's tragedy.  CBS19
