  • Officials announced Wednesday that the Salvation Army of Tyler raised over $500,000 from its Red Kettle Campaign, surpassing its goal to support essential community programs (including food, shelter, and other vital services).   • Art Alley in downtown Tyler will be refreshed as local artists have until Jan. 16 to apply for the 2026 mural cycle (a tradition since 2020).   • The SPCA of East Texas is offering low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to reduce pet overpopulation and ease shelter overcrowding in Tyler. The service aims to help local pet owners provide better care for their animals.  CBS19
  • Fire Chief Eric Greaser said a new bill requires annual cancer screenings for firefighters to protect their health in Smith County. He described the measure as a personal, essential step to address the risks faced by firefighters.  CBS19
